Pohnpei

Pohnpei, Micronesia

Recorded as being the second rainiest place on earth,
Pohnpei (pronounced pon-pay) is a nature-lover's paradise, both on land and
beneath the sea. A Japanese stronghold during WWII, the island has
become a magnet for hikers and divers - with virgin rainforest reclaiming
old gun emplacements, and some of the world's most pristine coral.

Encircling the island 1-5 miles offshore, Pohnpei's reef
hosts a huge variety of tropical fish and pelagics, including white tips,
gray reefs, barracuda, skipjack, stingrays and mantas.
